Light at the End of the Tunnel

“Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way.” -Metallica (No Leaf Clover)

I don’t normally base my thoughts and opinions on Metallica songs, but as I was up late thinking (as usual) this lyric popped into my head. The song is about thinking you have a solution for a problem, you see the answer coming so you stand there waiting for it, maybe even run towards it, but when it arrives, it turns out it was far worse than the original problem you had.

Because I over think allot of situations, I feel like I often times anticipate this type of collision. I see the solution to my problem coming, but I second guess it, I think, “that might be a train…” I try to brace myself for whatever it may be, but if you’re colliding with a train, it doesn’t matter if you brace yourself or not, its gonna suck.

I sometimes wish I didn’t anticipate it. I wish I could just enjoy the time before the solution or train reach me. Life isn’t major events that happen it’s all the moments in between. I want to live in those moments and not anticipate events. If there are good times and bad times in life, I want to enjoy the good, not look out for the bad.

But alas here I am, bracing myself for the train…
